can i still get Multi Monitor display on a sli Motherboard but the Graphics Cards aren't sli ready?

hello i am wondering if i buy a sli motherboard can i use Multi monitor display even though they are not sli ready graphics cards. (i want to run 4 monitors but i am also looking to get a real gaming motherboard) i am basically asking can i run two none sli ready graphics cards in a sli motherboard. if i don't make scenes i apologize. thanks
