AMD Athlon II x4 or AMD Phenom II x2?
Hi, i'm building a new PC on a 600$ Budget. I plan on getting an XFX ATI Radeon 5770 1GB, 4GB Patriot Viper RAM, some sort of ASRock Motherboard with two PCI-E x16 slots, but i'm stuck here. Should I get an AMD Athlon II x2, x3, x4, or Phenom II x2. The ONLY Games I want to play is DiRT 2, all the Need for Speeds, PURE, and GRiD. I want to have AA, but don't need it, so yeah. I was looking at some of my friends videos, One of them Maxed those games on an AMD 64 Athlon x2 2.8GHz, 4GB DDR2, and a single 4770. So please, tell me what is the best CPU I had in mind for what i'm gonna do. AMD Athlon II x2, Athlon II x3, Athlon II x4, Or Phenom II x2. Thanks!!
I would recommend the Anthlons. They are basically the same as the Phenoms, but without the massive L3 cache. They're only about 3-6 FPS slower on games like Crysis, and they are lot cheaper. The Anthlon II X3's have been known to unlock into Phenom II X4's, but it's a gamble.
